Katha Kids do it again at the Copenhagen Students Speak Contest
Children from the school run by Katha, a nonprofit NGO working in the field of literacy to literature, participated & won the Copenhagen Students Speak! Contest designed to provide world leaders, scientists and other influential dignitaries around the globe a representation of what students think about climate change. The contest asked students to address these leaders by way of a song, poem, speech, presentation, or video and to propel the global sustainability movement.
Illustrating their passion for addressing climate change issues, 30 elementary, middle and high school students from around the world were named winners of the Students Speak! hosted by ePals and Conservation International’s "Team Earth" campaign. Katha is one of the proud winners & its submission, a one minute documentary on Global Warming, will be hand-delivered to world leaders attending the Copenhagen Climate Conference this month (December 7-18, 2009).
Set up in 1988, by Geeta Dharmarajan, Katha is a “profit for all" organization inspired by children. Its belief in innovativeness and not one time innovation has led to the collective creativity that Katha is today, providing children a platform to exhibit their creative musings and an all round development by bringing their hidden talent to the fore, through their participation and exposure to such programmes.
